Helen Dotchel is a person of unique character. This character is shown by her worldly travels and choice of study. While being abroad by herself was tough, she was able to persevere. This perseverance helped her learn to be on her own, make her own decisions, and feel a sense of independence. Taking a first semester abroad immersed her in the Spanish culture and life. Growing up in Philadelphia and going to the Philly Zoo inspired her to pursue a career in wildlife conservation, her current major. By specializing in wildlife conservation, Helen hopes to travel the world conducting wildlife research and exploring the best that the world has to offer. Having a job at the zoo gave her experience working with all types of animals at all stages of their care.

This passion for wildlife is what inspired her to attend the University of Delaware. The Universities School of Agriculture is second to none. This great Agriculture program will provide her with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to pursue her life working with nature. Another thing Helen is passionate about is running. She is an avid runner who likes to put on her sneakers and hit the hiking trails as often as possible.

Michael Hrisafnis is a man who works with vibes. He is genuine with his actions and demeanor which reflects the type of day he is having, which is rare in a society where every day is “good”. Leaving the small town of Point Pleasant, NJ to come to UD chasing the good vibes, which was his primary reason for coming here. On campus he’s rushed fraternities, enjoyed partying and being a good student. Michael is planning to finish up his rushing and pledge a fraternity this spring semester, one with chill vibes and a welcoming atmosphere that doesn’t make him do anything outrageous. He prefers a space where he can relax and enjoy the commotion moving around him but occasionally will join all the madness of a party or new adventure. 

Coming from a Greek Family in New Jersey, Michael enjoys being the older brother and in turn, takes the responsibility of being a manager at one of the family diners. His manager position has motivated his decision to pursue Business and eventually marketing or management so that he will be in a good position to take over the family businesses, a task he is proud to do. In his free time from his busy schedule, he enjoys taking in the outdoors and hitting the road in his meticulously taken care of BMW.  

Miguel Palacios

Miguel Palacios is a hardworking individual who dedicates the majority of his time to his sport – crew. Rowing is clearly a passion for Miguel. He wakes up for 5:30 a.m. practices most days of the week. He displays dedication and loyalty to his team as well as a clear enthusiasm for practices.

However, rowing is not the only aspect of Miguel’s life. Miguel does well in school and was even invited to apply to the Honors College this semester. He is an undeclared business major who eventually plans to go into finance and marketing. He hopes to one day go into pharmaceuticals. Miguel’s goals in life include making a lot of money as well as eventually trying to cause a change in the pharmaceutical industry. He is also interested in photography and takes scenic and portrait photographs. 

Miguel is from Cincinnati, Ohio, where he lives with his three siblings. He loved living in Cincinnati because he liked to travel within the city and experience the different cultures that reside there. He found that there was always more than enough for him to do. While in Ohio, Miguel worked at a bagel shop and was an assistant to a divorce attorney.
