In a world where electronics take up most of our free time, sometimes we need to reflect on the world around us. While this may be hard for some people because of the growing reliance on the internet and electronics, it can be beneficial to face and try to understand the problems of our country and world.
During my time of reflection, I mainly focused on our planet’s current environmental situation. For the past few years, the seasons have not followed their traditional weather patterns. These past two months have been one of the warmest winters that I can remember. For example, it is the end of February, and we have not had our first snow yet. Temperatures can range from below freezing to above 60 degrees (Fahrenheit) on any given day. Carbon emissions from cars and factories are seriously impacting the climate; temperatures are rising causing icebergs and ice caps to melt and oceans to rise. I do not follow politics that closely, but I have been thinking about how little President Trump has done to help our environment. More steps need to be made to fix what previous generations have destroyed.
The world today is a scary place to live in, I’m glad that I got an opportunity to reflect on the modern day problems.
