I spent the 15 min of think-time in the middle of doing laundry. A task that takes two hours here at UD. During these two hours, I see many other people and dealt with some since all the washers were taken and some on 0:00 sitting idle. These small inconveniences are why the whole process took two hours.
I thought about what else I could do with these two hours.
Since the laundry task; loading, paying and folding only takes about one hour the other hour was spent efficiently in my eyes. I spent it by watching videos on how to ref basketball games, what I will be doing tonight and taking small Tik-Tok breaks to ease the addiction and using the final 15 minutes for thought.
These two hours could alternatively be used up by going to the gym and hammering out the days’ rowing PM training but I wasn’t feeling very motivated right after classes. I could be scrolling through socials while Impractical Jokers is on but I would have to stare at the heap of dirty clothes. A nap would be a strong contender but it’s hard to cope with the loss of potential productivity. Two hours of continuous school-related work would probably be the smartest use of time but a crazy thing to do outside of finals week.
I began doing laundry without thinking of these alternatives and that’s how most people act. Most actions should be spontaneous, ignoring the alternatives since we are human and over-thinking and analyzation leads to stress and in the end totaling hours of wasted time.
