Following our my last 15 minutes without technology I now got to spend 15 minutes hanging our with my friends. We were all in my suite-mate’s room talking. I soon realized how large a part of our communication technology has become. Within about 5 minutes we each had our phones out and were either scanning through social media or playing games. My two roommates enjoy playing games with each other on their phone and it usually becomes very competitive.

We then moved into our study area so we could work on our upcoming anatomy exam. In the hall we met some more of our friends and fellow nursing majors and we all finally put our phones away and got to work. Not before long we then had another form of technology, this one seen as more productive, our laptops. These weren’t being used to communicate online but were instead being used as a study aid for our class.

Many don’t realize how important communication is to a productive society. Through communication we form connections and work through problems together, although it also results in some arguments. I also feel that communication keeps us sane as it provides us very necessary human contact on a daily basis. Without this contact it would not be long for one to go “insane”.
