As I was sitting in my public policy class, I realized that there is a common trend in every single class. There are the volunteers and the observers.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I feel that most of the time you’re either one or the other and this is usually determined in the beginning of the semester. You kick the semester off as either or and then you feels like you have to keep that trend going. Especially if you happen to be in one of those classes where you are one of the two people who raise their hands, and then one class you say to yourself Alright, that’s it I’m not raising my hand today. But then the professor asks a question and you can just feel the desperation for someone to answer the question emanating off of them, and then you give in, raise your hand, and the professor gives you a grateful look and if you’re lucky, a cheeky smile.

Then you say to yourself I hope the class doesn’t think I’m a suck up. I’m really just trying to help the poor guy out. But on the plus side, at least the professor likes you.
