Fast Forward to graduation day. I walk onto the stage and recieve my diploma for Elementary Education filled with happiness, but also with sadness as I will no longer be living with my best friends. I can’t wait to be a teacher and be able to do something I am so passionate about. I walk off that stage knowing I am now in the real world and have my life in my hands.

Fast Forward to the day I move out of my childhood home. I hug my mom goodbye as my dad places my last box in the trunk of my car. I get in and drive to my new apartment in Hoboken with my best friend waiting there for me. We unpack our things and set up our cute, trendy apartment and then go downtown for a night out. In the upcoming days, I prepare for my new job as a 1st grade teacher in the elementary school 20 minutes away from my new apartment.

Fast Forward to my wedding day. My father walks me down the aisle to my future husband with a tear in his eye as he gives away his little girl. I remember this day as the happiest day of my life. We have our wedding and the reception with all of our best friends and family in attendance. We then jump onto a plane to go to Turks and Caicos for 2 weeks where we sit on the beach all day and come back home with horrible bathing suits tan line .

Fast Forward a few more years in the future. I am sitting on my wrap around porch with my best friend, watching my 3 kids play in the front yard with hers. We sit there drinking a glass of wine while our husbands are in the backyard barbequing. My life feels content at this moment as I am enjoying everything around me.

Fast Forward many more years. My husband and I are in the nursing home. My children come to visit us every week with their significant others and my grandchildren. We laugh and I tell them stories about their parents when they were their age. I have all the people I love with me and life is perfect.

Although everything I just described to you is just a dream of mine, I want that dream to be a reality of having that “picket white fence family”. It might be a little basic but for as long as I can remember I have always wanted a life like those in a movie. For all I know, my life can be completely different in a few years from now and this dream will become a brand new one.
