(my old elementary school!)
Keep working hard, and push through the impossible.
You are striving to educate a group of children
Who don’t know what is coming
Because you will be THEIR teacher.
Times will get tough
The tide will get high
The clouds will fog up your mind
But you must keep going
The youth doesn’t know what is coming
Because you will be THEIR teacher.
Whether on zoom
Or in the classroom
You are constantly going to be learning.
Whether you make a mistake
Or come across a hiccup along the way
Keep pushing through
For the children
Who don’t know what is coming
Because you will be THEIR teacher.
Prepare yourself for a future.
A future full of apples
Bulletin boards
Circle time
And of course, love.
Love from a group children
Who, one day, will feel so lucky
Because you are THEIR teacher.

Sydnee,
I really enjoyed reading your poem. The repetition and use of the mantra “Because you will be THEIR teacher” is so powerful. As is the emphasis on the word “THEIR.” I also liked the change in the last line to “…you are THEIR teacher.” You definitely sound like the kind of person who should be in a classroom with children. This poem shows how much you care about teaching one day and how committed you are.

The greatest part about your poem was that it shows how passionate you are about becoming a future teacher. The lines “Because you will be THEIR teacher” help emphasize how serious this profession is to you. It is as if you are hyping yourself up to become a teacher. Overall nice job.

I loved this poem! I loved how passionate you were about teaching the youth and the motivation this poem would give to educators. I actually read it to my sister who is currently an elementary special ed teacher and she loved it. Thank you for sharing it:)
