Living in a new place,
Is much in itself,
I’m learning a different pace,
Wanting to take time for myself.
Unpacking everyday,
A sea of boxes galore,
Time seems to slip away,
Leaving me wanting more.
Oh yes i’m loving the Florida sun,
What I would do to explore,
Wish I could go out and have fun,
And lay down with my family by the shore.

Emily,
I really enjoyed your poem! It sounds like you are enjoying living in a new place, however I am sure it is difficult moving to a new location in a time like this. Most of us are looking for things to do and often get bored, however it sounds like you have been keeping busy, with having to unpack and get adjusted to a new way of life! Also, regarding the style of your poem, I really like how you creatively rhymed your lines. It created a nice flow and rhythm to the poem, and kept me really captivated! Awesome job 🙂

I really like the way you chose to indent the lines of your poem. Also I enjoyed your poem because I felt I was going along on a journey with you and your lines flowed really nicely. All your rhymes were structured good as well. I particularly enjoyed the line, “What I would do to explore.” I can relate to this line very much and so would probably everyone right now. Good work!

I really liked the rhyme scheme where the rhymes changed every four lines. At first, I thought “new place” just referred to how you were living back at home instead of college. Later in the poem I realized that you had actually moved to Florida. I can imagine how hectic that must be especially with the current state our country. I really related to your line “Time seems to slip away” because for me time has seemed to be going faster than normal, which you’d think would be the opposite during a quarantine. Awesome poem and good luck settling in to your new home!

Once again, I really enjoy your writing because your story is so much different than what the rest of us are experiencing right now. I loved the line ” A sea of boxes galore,” because I feel it really paints a clear picture of your life right now. I also enjoyed how you spoke about loving the Florida sun but wishing you could explore or go to the beach with your family. I hope your move is going well!

I liked how your poem was so personal. It brought me into your life and showed me what its like. I also like how different this is than the other poems. You’re not talking about the good or bad in the world, you’re talking about the good in your life and sometimes we need to focus on that.
