A couple of years ago, my step mom thought it would be a great idea to start a garden for the third or fourth time. But this time, it was not just a patch of soil in the back corner of our yard, it was a border around our porch. Everytime you looked over the railing, you would look down and see some type of flower. Since the weather has not been the greatest, we have not had anything bloom.
Once things start to bloom, it lights up our house. We are spending more time outside without even noticing it. The families that live behind us admire the pink, yellow and red flowers that surround our most prized possession. Surrounds our home, where our family grows together. We live and survive together just like the other flowers outside. I admire my step mom for planting these outside because it symbolizes so much more than just another garden that gives us something to look at and water everyday.
Even though the lady of the mist has not bloomed this season, to me it represents the strong love my family has for each other. It may not be shown, but it is always there.
I liked how you drew a parallel between us humans and the flowers. When you said ” We live and survive together just like the other flowers outside” made me think about how different life during quarantine would be if I was alone. Without having others by my side I would probably go insane and fall into depression. I also liked how in reference to loving one another you said “It may not be shown, but it is always there. “. I can relate to this as I often find myself in fights with other family members over silly things during this current situation. Being close together really brings out the worst in us!

I like how you explained a connection of the growth of the flowers surrounding your house to the growth of your family inside of your house. I also enjoyed how you see it as more than just a garden in these tough times, and how there is always growth to come. I think your last sentence is the most powerful sentence of your piece. It really shows how the presence of love is always existent.

I love how you compared the flowers to your family. Especially now, when most people are home, a lot of families are growing closer along with their flowers. I’m sure it looks really beautiful with the flowers surrounding your porch and I love your twist on the name of the flower as your title symbolizing the love of your family.

I really enjoyed the simplicity of this piece. Hearing you talk about how you admire your stepmom for planting this garden and how when the flowers are in bloom your family spends more time together outside. this really is a wonderful piece thank you for sharing!

I really like how you ended your piece. It was a really unique for you to describe your family’s love for each other. “It may not be shown, but it’s always there”. I also love the little addition about how your neighbors admire the flowers as well. Makes me wish I could see it for myself
