I was over at my friends house to pick up some quarantine food and realized I never examined their tank. Fish tanks have always been an interest and I find it so cool to see how these tanks become their own habitat and can provide for themselves. They way the tank grows and evolves in a way for me can symbolize how even if we are isolated we can still continue to grow and evolve in many ways! It is very important that in this time we remain focused, spend time with our families, and continue to get fresh air.
I began talking to my friends father to learn more about the fish and which types he would recommend if I were to start a tank. There is an immense amount of work and starting a fish tank requires a lot of planning and persistence to ensure everything goes over smoothly. I decided now would not be the best time for me to take on this new hobby, but I will definitely consider it in the future. I found this whole experiment extremely fun to partake in and it definitely helped show me more of what we all miss when we lock ourselves from the world.
I too have a fish a tank at home with a few different types of fish. I think the choice of a fish tank was a very appropriate environment to write about as we are in our own little fish tanks. What I do wonder though is fish who live in a fish tank seem unbothered by their new habitat while us as humans are struggling with it, I wonder why? Overall great post and I do recommend having a fish tank it is a cool little niche.

I really liked your post. I have had a hobby of keeping fish in my tanks ever since I was in elementary school, so I can really appreciate it. I liked how you said “They way the tank grows and evolves in a way for me can symbolize how even if we are isolated we can still continue to grow and evolve in many ways!”. This helps shine light on a very depressing situation we are all in. You have to look at the positive in everything.

I admire how you were able to view your friend’s fish tank as a microcosm of what humans are going through with the quarantine. Our “habitat” right now may be smaller than usual, but we should still be able to adapt accordingly. I’ve also always been fascinated by fish tanks because there are so many different possibilities when it comes to the design. Good luck if you decide to get a fish tank!

I really enjoyed how you had written this piece. The line, “They way the tank grows and evolves in a way for me can symbolize how even if we are isolated we can still continue to grow and evolve in many ways! ” was a great simile to what is happening in the tank and our lives now. I used to love fish tanks, but after being in quarantine, I feel bad for the fish now because I hate being stuck inside!

I really liked readying this piece because of the fact that you chose a fish tank to talk about. Its weird to think that those fish live in such a small tank, where we have the whole world to explore. Obviously right now we do not have that flexibility to do so, but you explained this in a way that I’ve never thought of. That since we are confined to our homes, we can still grow so much. Thank you for this, it opened my eyes!

Tyler,
I really enjoyed your writing, it was short and sweet. It was cool how you recognized that although we are isolated right now as if we are in a tank, there is ability to grow and evolve during this time! Thank you for the reminder that it is important to remain focused, spend time with family, and continue to get fresh air because I find it somewhat difficult for myself to do those three things. Its nice how you are deciding to take on the new hobby of making a fish tank, I am just as fascinated by them. They are truly beautiful to look at, best of luck!
