What if everyone voted?
Would broader participation leave America promoted?
Would uninformed voters flood our polls?
Would this balance out the power and control?
What if we put the power in new hands?
That way everyone can take a stand.
Would that create a better democracy?
United we stand, reverse the hypocrisy.
Creating a sphere for those with no power
Those who do, fall back and cower.
They’ll say, “We’ve been here, we’ve learned”
“Now our country is in the hands of the unconcerned”
Should voters be politically active?
If not, are their votes less attractive?
Should voters show their interest, register in advance?
Or does this target minorities, take away their chance?
Now let’s look at our choices.
We need to hear our nation’s voices.
Make voting easier, register the same day?
It could help more citizens have a say.
We could give people more flexibility when they vote
Voting over a week period, citizens take note.
Can we get more involved?
We need to find a way to get this problem solved.
What is the solution?
More voters, less delusion?
Uninformed voters?
Is that pollution?
Should all citizens have a say?
The question is unanswered but maybe one day
We will see the masses rising, without compromising.
To hear our citizens, we need to stop the immobilizing.

I really like your poem because it makes me think. Especially your first line, “What if everyone voted?” I never realized how much it could change things if everyone voted. I also really like the line, “United we stand, reverse the hypocrisy. ” This is a very strong sentence and it has a lot of meaning behind it.

I really like this poem as it was focused away from the main issue we are facing today. This poem is not about dwelling on our current situation but it is thought provoking. Especially these lines “What is the solution? More voters, less delusion? Uninformed voters?”. As it shows there may not be a correct solution, that there is many solutions to this problem.

It seems as if most people nowadays are choosing to focus on small issues that pop up overtime rather that working towards solving these issues at their core. Your poem brings this to light, questioning both smaller aspects of the way our government is run but also the bigger picture, which is ultimately where change needs to be made. I really enjoyed how rather than answering your own questions, you left the poem on an open note that leaves readers thinking and is quite indicative of how uncertain things are.
