I yearn to feel the warm summer air,
To feel salty wind blow through my hair,
To look up at the sky and see,
This plague has been lifted from us, now we are free.
I wish this time had come already,
But the pattern of the virus seems to be steady,
We have a lot more healing to do,
But we will flatten the curve, I know it’s true.
And when all of this is said and done,
I will never again take for granted a loved one,
I will cherish the ones I hold dear,
And never let the love disappear.
I yearn for life to return as usual,
Social distancing has me going delusional,
I yearn for social interaction,
I welcome any simple distraction.
Coronavirus will end.

This poem is very well written and has a very consistent rhyme scheme throughout. I also like the optimism of this poem. The first two lines, “I yearn to feel the warm summer air,/To feel salty wind blow through my hair,” really speak to me. As soon as this pandemic is over, I am going down the shore to my family’s beach house.

I, too, yearn for this life to return as usual. I truly enjoyed your poem, very nicely written. I appreciated the line “I will never take for granted a loved one”. It just shows how you understand the gravity of today’s circumstances. Yes, the coronavirus will end, but lets hope sooner than later!

I really related to your poem. You did a great job pinning down exactly how so many of us are feeling. Also, I didn’t read everyone’s work but yours was one of the only I saw who decided on a rhyming pattern. I’m assuming that was a challenge and you executed it very well.
