Dear Dad,
Thank you for introducing me to the game of soccer at such a you age. Thank you for dedicating so much of your time when I was young to coach me and my friends. The countless hours you spent planning practices, watching videos, and taking classes all to coach me was something that I didn’t notice until I was older. I didn’t realize just how much you did. From leaving work to go right to practice, to giving up your weekends for my games, you put in just as many hours as I did. You never complained of how much effort it took, but rather focused on making sure I was having fun.
Thank you for pushing me past my limits. Thank you for picking on me in front of everyone else because you knew I could be better. These things have made me want to do my best not just as a soccer player but in anything I do. It all has developed a competitive spirit in me.
The passion you helped me develop for the game of soccer contributed to so many memories I made in high school. From the hard losses to the three state championship titles, you instilled a love for the game that I hope to be able to give my kids one day. Again, thank you for all the time you gave up for me.
Your son,
Tommy

I really liked how you dove into how much of a impact your dad made on your soccer career and even in life outside of soccer. I don’t think much about the sacrifices my parents make for my sport but after reading this, it made me think. I think thats one of the best compliments a blog post can get, that it made me think. My dad coached me and i realized how much he sacrificed to be able to.
